5th edition of the Mário Ruivo Award – Ocean Generations dedicated to the theme “Ocean: a heritage that unites generations”

Applications are now open for the 5th edition of the Mário Ruivo Award – Oceanic Generations, an initiative dedicated to young people between the ages of 14 and 21 that rewards the production of films that promote greater awareness among younger generations of the role of the Ocean, in its multiple dimensions.
This year's edition, dedicated to the theme “Ocean: a heritage that unites generations”, aims to draw attention to the deep connection that exists between the Ocean and the preservation and maximization of human rights.
The films submitted by young filmmakers will be judged in four categories – Message, Creativity, Scientific Culture and Future, with a prize of €2,000 being awarded in each of these categories. Applications are open until September 30, 2025.
The FCT, together with the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the Mission Structure for the Extension of the Continental Shelf (EMEPC), the Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu do Cinema, the Directorate-General for Education (DGE) and the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), are part of the Organizing Committee of the Award, which is coordinated by the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy (DGPM).
